After escaping from an island prison where he served 14 years on false charges of treason, Edmond Dantès returns as the Count of Monte Cristo to seek revenge on the men who betrayed him. With an estimated budget of €42.9 million, The Count of Monte Cristo is the most expensive French film of 2024. Watching Albert Hydee sing and play the guitar, it’s very obvious that she’s not even touching the strings half the time.

Not once was I bored

1.13 (2024). Not once did I find any inconsistencies. Scenery and sets were top notch.

The Count of Monte Cristo is one of the latter

The acting never took me out of the story, it kept you involved from start to finish. French cinema produces many forgettable films (in my opinion), many entertaining, some great and here and there a film that actually makes me love cinema and theater. Rarely do I find a film that portrays love, friendship, betrayal, courage, loneliness, care, revenge and much more in at least a decent way.

Nothing seemed rushed to me

The three hours were deserved and it felt like less than two. I encourage you to watch this film, it has many qualities and is not a waste of time. If you are a Dumas fan, you will surely disagree.
