In terms of TV shows, this year was pretty average

Follow Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Badingham as their long-standing rivalry comes to an end. Coincidentally, Aidan Turner previously starred in the film “Chavenage House” (“Priority in the film “Rivals”). The same filming location was used to portray Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC TV adaptation of Poldark.

Rivals stands out as an absolute highlight

This is a multi-layered work that definitely deserves a sequel. Conceptually it is a soap opera, narratively a satire and stylistically a historical play. An attentive viewer will find a message in it, which this time is not a superficial or imposing political idealism, but rather a search for truth.

Participants are interesting, smart, rude and funny

Not a single episode feels sloppy, unnecessary, or forced; the story and characters build beautifully to a brilliant climax. Writing, walls, lines and direction – everything serves a single whole. Every child of the 80s loves the soundtrack.

The acting is interesting to watch

The always excellent David Tennant shines in the role of a humanized villain, and his opponent is Alex Hassell. Victoria Smurfette and Aidan Turner make a believable, well-matched couple. Viewers witness the rise of some young stars in the future, especially Bella McLean.

Highly recommend, the best show of the fall
