Silent.Hill.2.Directors.Cut.PC.Game(djDEVASTATEâ„¢) The first Silent Hill outing on the PC platform, Konami’s Director’s Cut combines the winning formula of Silent Hill 2 on the PlayStation 2 with the much-praised extras seen in the Xbox version, Inner Fears. Silent Hill 2 was once a holy place for protagonist James, but it’s not what it used to be, as original players will attest. Doors are mostly locked, and the windows in the various rooms offer nothing but reflections.

Konami doesn’t mess around with this game

Comedy is strictly forbidden, and everything in the game is disturbing in some way. There’s a real sense of claustrophobia throughout the game, compounded by the darkness and thick, dense fog. What’s new in the Director’s Cut is a host of new graphical features.

But more importantly, it’s a whole new chapter in the experience, played with a new female character

Taking advantage of PC graphics cards and processing power, Silent Hill 2: Director’s Cut comes with improved visuals and some gorgeous lighting, further exaggerating the game’s foreboding feel. There’s certainly plenty of extras to do, and it’s worth checking out even if you already own the PS2 version. If you’re starting a new game from scratch, the initial encounters with the members of the corrupted dimension aren’t too scary and are usually easy to dispose of with just a nail gun or a small handgun.

and not in a good way

These screwy folk include headless sisters and dismembered torsos that drag themselves through thick fog. The game involves the player solving puzzles, walking up and down hallways, collecting and combining items, and generally feeling confused… Like its predecessor, the Director’s Cut edition is a superbly put together game.
