Claressa Shields (Ryan Destiny), a high school student from Flint, Michigan, with the help of her coach Jason Crutchfield (Brian Tyree Henry), overcomes all odds to become the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing. But even at the height of her success, Claressa has to face the fact that not all dreams are created equal.
