However, Hitler was not a drinker
Line of Events
Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels is responsible for building public support for the Holocaust and the war that Hitler is about to start. During a meal on November 9, 1938, Hitler is seen with a glass of beer. Adolf Hitler: [To Magda Goebbels during a meal] Because of people like you, I will print skulls on my cigarette packs to ban smoking. Smoking is as harmful as the dead animals you love so much, and I cannot talk you out of it. A scene with Holocaust survivor Margot Friedlander before the end credits.
The acting was quite good
Features Olympia 1. Teil – Fest der Völker (1938). This film is based on true events that are very relevant historically. Thus, attention is drawn to several important events that took place during World War II. However, it must be said that the actor who plays Hitler is unfortunately nowhere near what we saw in “Der Untergang”.
There are also mistakes
The props, costumes, buildings, etc. in the 1930s and 40s. It is clear that a lot of effort has been put into it. Basic mistakes are made, for example, using both the names St. Petersburg and Leningrad, when they should have only used the latter.
a shaking hand
Other mistakes are e.g. Adolf Hitler in the bunker scenes shows no signs of having Parkinson’s disease, i.e. Overall, I found this film a bit disappointing. I personally think that this could be due to the too short time and low budget to depict so many influential historical events. Therefore, I can only rate this film 6.3/10, thus earning it a 6-star IMDb rating.
However, I recommend that anyone interested in what happened during World War II watch this film
Until a better alternative is available, this is still the best way to get an idea of the importance of Joseph Goebbels and his use of propaganda during World War II. However, I hope that in the future we will see a miniseries that gives the viewer a better idea of the use of propaganda during World War II. Because a 2 hour film seems really too short if you want to cover a topic like Goebbels during World War II.
