The Duttons faced new challenges in the early 20th century, including increased westward expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. Although the Great Depression in America began in 1929, it began earlier in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, almost a decade before the rest of the country. While the rest of America prospered, Montana struggled. Due to drought and reduced demand for agricultural products due to the end of the “Great War” (also known as World War I, which lasted from 1914 to 1918), many farmers suffered greatly. As a result, Montana farmers were unable to repay their war loans, leading to widespread bank failures throughout the state. Between 1921 and 1925, half of Montana’s farmers lost their land. By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 settlers had left Montana. Also, 200 banks in Montana went bankrupt. Not only did the drought destroy the crops, but it was followed by a locust invasion and a cattle plague. After Yellowstone there was a second one, but still the same feeling… I really liked it and although I would have to see something else, I feel like it could have been better (after Yellowstone a harder task!) BUT. BUT. BUT… It seems like everything finally got going and the subplots are starting to come together… And then it all ends – of course there is a second season planned – BUT – if it doesn’t, then you just wasted your time because the story doesn’t even end at the end of the first season. And right now there is no announcement or schedule for a second season… It pisses me off! It’s like going to a great restaurant and only getting the sides and no main course!!! What the hell… Come on, producers… Get your fingers out!!!!
