BOB TREVINO LIKES IT is inspired by the true friendship writer/director Tracey Layman found with a stranger while searching for her father online. Often playing the role of a caregiver to people like her father who are supposed to take care of her, Lily Trevino yearns for a family connection, having been abandoned by her mother as a child and then suddenly by her father in her twenties. Bob Trevino works long hours alone at a construction company to support his wife Jeannie’s album-writing habit. The couple has been through a lot over the past decade, and Bob has tried to put his wife first, to the point of neglecting his own feelings and need for friendship, meaning, and connection—that is, until he receives an unexpected Facebook message from a stranger. Lily and Bob’s blossoming friendship becomes a vital source of connection and healing in their lives. Bob’s small acts of fatherly kindness fill a family void in Lily’s life and have the power to change its direction forever. In their own ways, they must both learn that they are worthy of an extraordinary love, exemplified through small acts of kindness.
