I read Rivals a few years ago and enjoyed every page!

Line of Events

It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham, who have a long-running rivalry that comes to a head. Coincidentally, Aidan Turner has previously filmed at Chavenage House (Priory in Rivals). The same filming location was also used to depict Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC TV adaptation of Poldark.

That being said, yes, there are differences to the book, but none so major that it ruins the overall fun and entertainment value

It’s quite difficult to compare the book and its characters to its TV adaptation, as we each bring our own perspective on how certain characters should look and behave. While we can read a book at our leisure, TV has to move at a pace that suits the format and doesn’t drag, so some characters or side storylines may have to be time-limited. due to.

We love Declan as much as we hate Lord B!

The characters, especially Aidan Turner as Declan O’Hara, the honest journalist, and David Tennant as the nasty Lord B, are great! The 80s music is fantastic, although one part I found annoying was the opening high opera music that didn’t fit. As for all the sex scenes, yes, we could have done without some of them, as we all have fantasies, but that wouldn’t be the book Cooper wrote.

It was wonderful to see Jilly Cooper herself in the restaurant lunch scene

She looked like she was thoroughly enjoying the show, as much as I did. The last episode ended very differently from the book, so I hope there’s at least another series where we see what happens to Taggie and RCB . .

And of course we know that nasty Lord B has to be there to cause even more chaos
