The tyrannical association boss, Leonard Sr, wants to steal her assets on the cheap

When maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry finds her livelihood under attack from greedy competitors who were once her friends, she hatches a scheme to get revenge and shake up the industry. Loosely based on the 2011-2012 theft of $18 million worth of maple syrup from a warehouse in Quebec; five people were sentenced to prison. In rural Quebec, Ruth Landry (Margo Martindale) struggles to keep her maple farm afloat while her husband lies in a coma.

Fargo is strong in this family

Remy Bouchard (Guillaume Cyr) is a frustrated, lonely security guard at the association’s warehouse. Mike Byrne (Chris Diamantopoulos) is a low-level basketball player with the Boston Mafia family. Like that franchise, it could have been a movie or a TV show.

Respect has been paid

It also has snow, weird criminals and small-town people, and even a true/fake story. The cast is led by the greatness of Margo Martindale and the slightly unyielding Chris Diamantopoulos. Two things initially bother me and hold it back a bit.

Another problem is the language barrier

The story is basically silly, and I’m not sure if the Fargo treatment is worth it. That takes some getting used to. Despite the slow start, the series leaves you wanting more.
